Some things happen for a reason. Even if you tried to planned ahead, it may end up different to what you've imagined.
Remember the logo I've designed for my friend Eric? When we thought everything is approved and ready to go, his partner suddenly rejected the approval in the final week. His reason was a religious one. He insisted we had to change the name and leave 'Holy' out of the logo. After much discussion, we have no choice but to come up with a new name and artwork within 24 hours. In order to prevent more damages to the branding design, I decided to change the pun 'Holy Cow' into a cow named 'Holly'.
And this is the story of how clients could influence designer's work in such a great way.

Holly Cow is due to open on the 5th June, Saturday.
Finger crossed for my little Holly.

Found: Chucky & Friends

I found this quote when I was randomly looking through posts late at night. Chucky and friends is the name of the website - it is a collection of thoughts and ideas Chucky and his friends had about love & life. The quotes are simple yet powerful. If you are into some deep soul searching or thinking, this is a site not to missed.

Cockatoo Island

Maybe it's fate or pure stupidity - I've erased all the photos I've taken yesterday at Cockatoo Island! Luckily, my friend Kitty is coming to Sydney next week... So I can go back to retrace my footsteps.

Holy Cow!

Hurray! Holy Cow is born!
It has been a month since I first started drawing concepts for my friend - Eric's new frozen yogurt business in Hong Kong. Two weeks ago, Eric has confirmed that they have registered the name 'Holy Cow!' as their business. Apparently, this is the first one in Hong Kong, so there were no trouble at all.
I still remember the night that I brainstormed the name - a warm summer afternoon. I went through the brand concept again and again... I wrote down a list of words that I can play with. It was like playing scramble but without rules. And then, all in a sudden, this one jumps out at me! Excited - I quickly match the name to the concept and they just marry up perfectly!
The next few weeks, I was fuelled up by this overwhelming energy and I could not stop brainstorming concepts for the Holy Cow! brand. It has been a wonderful experience designing and seeing how everything comes to life slowly. And I can prove to myself once again - I truly love doing what I do!
Holy Cow! is opening in June 2010 at Tsim Sha Tsui!
Good luck my little one!
